Half of that donation has been used to establish the Rochelle Foods Hunger Challenge Fund in partnership with the Rochelle Area Community Foundation, a public charitable organization designed to attract and distribute gifts for the benefit of the community.
With the remainder of the donation, Βι¶ΉΣ³» is donating $1,000 to each of five organizations committing to hunger relief, including: the Rochelle Christian Food Pantry, Lifescape Community Services Meals-on-Wheels program, Hand-in-Hand Food Pantry, H.O.P.E. Shelter and Rochelle Child Care Center.
“Together, we can end hunger in the Rochelle community, so I hope that our donation and the creation of the Rochelle Foods Hunger Challenge Fund will inspire more individuals and corporate members of this community to contribute to the fight against hunger,” said Cal M. Jacobs, plant manager, Rochelle Foods.
This donation from Rochelle Foods is part of the commitment at Βι¶ΉΣ³» to nourish the hungry in the United States one community at a time. The company is giving funds to more than a dozen U.S. manufacturing facilities to share with nonprofits in their respective communities to fight hunger.
“Βι¶ΉΣ³» is committed to combating the persistence of hunger in the United States,” said Julie H. Craven, vice president of corporate communications at Βι¶ΉΣ³». “Each community has its own challenges, which is why we believe our plants can work with organizations on a grassroots level to help meet the residents’ needs and end hunger.”
In addition to its hunger relief efforts in these communities, Βι¶ΉΣ³» is committed to helping those in need throughout the world. Through its “On Our Way to Ending Hunger” program Βι¶ΉΣ³» collaborates with retailers, nonprofits and the government on hunger relief efforts; nourishes the hungry in the United States and abroad; and motivates individuals and corporate partners to take action to fight hunger.
